Are Indian Forces Arresting Kashmiri Youth Targeting Activists in J & K? Discover the facts here

Several pak-based handles took to Social media platform X(formerly Twitter) and claimed that Indian forces arrested several Kashmiri youth in massive crackdowns across 56 areas in Jammu and Kashmir, targeting civilians & peace activists, and seizing valuables.

An account with the name Kashmiri Tales posted a link on X and wrote: “Indian forces arrest several Kashmiri youth in massive crackdowns across 56 areas in IIOJK, targeting civilians & peace activists, and seizing valuables.

Moreover, other pak-based handles shared this claim on X stating similar claims. The preview link can be seen here and here.

Fact-Check

In the probe, DFRAC team found that the viral claim had been misleadingly shared on X. Indeed, security forces on Wednesday arrested ten over-ground workers (OGWs) of terror groups in J and K’s Kathua.

A google keyword search regarding the above viral claim led us to recently published reports from The Economic Times, Kashmir Reader, and India TV. As per reports, ten over-ground workers (OGWs) of terror groups were arrested on Wednesday, Nov 27 during a massive crackdown aimed at dismantling the terror ecosystem in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

Further, the reports stated that the sweeping operation at 17 locations was jointly conducted by police and CRPF to uncover networks providing logistic and financial aid to terrorist groups. A number of electronic devices were also seized during the searches, the spokesperson said.

Conclusion

It is evident from DFRAC’s Fact-check that the viral claim alleging that Indian forces have arrested several Kashmiri youth in massive crackdowns across 56 areas in Jammu and Kashmir is misleading since the security forces have arrested ten Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of terror groups in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir
