A video showing smoke emerging from an aircraft carrier is making rounds on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Users are sharing this video and claiming that the American aircraft carrier (Abraham) stationed in the Arabian Sea, has been targeted by multiple cruise missiles and drones.

An account on X posted this video and wrote: “Footage of the targeting of the American aircraft carrier (Abraham) stationed in the Arabian Sea by multiple cruise missiles and drones!”

Fact-check

In the probe, the DFRAC team found that the shared video dated back to Jul 2020 depicting the USS Bonhomme Richard that suffered an arson fire while in dock in San Diego.

We found a report by CNN from July 2020 carrying a video that showed similar visuals to those depicted in the above viral video.

Furthermore, we found that many media outlets, such as CBS Evening News and FOX 5 San Diego, also published video reports in October 2021 and December 2020 depicting similar visuals and confirming that the viral video was from the 2020 incident of USS Bonhomme Richard being set on fire while docked in San Diego.
