On social media, a video of warship being attacked with drones has gone viral. While sharing the video users claim that “Yemen’s Houthis attacked US Warships with drones and missiles in the Red Sea.”
Fact Check
During the investigation, DFRAC found that the claim was false. We found a video full version of video on the YouTube channel of ‘USMC’ uploaded on 14 Jan, 2024 with the description “INSTANT REACTION FROM IRAN! Houthi Cruise Missile sinks US aircraft carrier near Yemen. NOT Real footages, just Arma 3 gameplay.”
Furthermore, we also looked ‘Arma3’, we found that it is an open world tactical shooter simulation video game developed and published by Bohemia Interactive exclusively through the Steam distribution platform.
Conclusion
It is evident from the DFRAC’s fact check that the viral video is from a Video game and not related to Yemen’s Houthis attacking US Warships. Therefore, the claim of social media users is misleading.
