Some pak-based handles posted a video on social media platform X(formerly Twitter) and claimed that a Kashmiri civilian had lost her life after sustaining injuries in the grenade attack that took place on Nov 3 in Sunday market near the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) in Srinagar.
The dreadful attack had left at least a dozen people injured. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah described the grenade attack as deeply disturbing and said there can be no justification for targeting civilians
A pak-based handle named Atban posted a video on X and wrote: “Heartbreaking news from Bandipoora: 45-year-old Abida has succumbed to injuries from a grenade attack by Indi@n forces in Srinagar’s TRC area. The human toll of the ongoing violence in occupied K@shmir continues to rise.
Moreover, other pak-based handles shared this video and made a similar claim on X. The preview link can be seen here and here.
Fact-Check
The DFRAC team investigated the claim made with the viral video on X and found that there was no involvement of Indian forces behind this attack.
A google keyword search led us to some latest reports published by Kashmir Observer, Greater kashmir, The Times of India and Deccan Herald.
As per reports, J&K Police have arrested three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) affiliates in connection with a grenade attack on the bustling Sunday market near Tourist Reception Centre in central Srinagar earlier this month, in which at least 12 civilians were injured, IGP (Kashmir) VK Birdi said.
Notably, no involvement of Indian forces had been observed in this grenade attack
Conclusion
It is evident from DFRAC’s fact-check that the claim alleging the involvement of Indian forces in a recent grenade attack is absolutely misleading. In reality, three LeT associates have been arrested by the Police in connection with this case.
