Fact-check
In the probe, the DFRAC team found that only a 20-year-old Indian-origin Israeli soldier had been killed along with other Israeli soldiers while fighting in Gaza.
In this regard, we conducted a Google keyword search that led us to the latest reports from multiple media outlets (Indian Express, Wion, Hindustan Times & NDTV). The reports cited that a 20-year-old Indian-origin Israeli soldier was among the Israeli combatants killed while fighting in Gaza, community members and the Mayor of the town said on Wednesday.
Adding further, he was identified as Staff-Sgt. Halel Solomon, a resident of Dimona city in Israel. Solomon was killed in action after Israeli troops continued their ground offensive against Hamas in Gaza as they moved deeper into the Palestinian enclave’s main city.
Notably, Indian Armed Forces personnel do not serve in the military forces of foreign nations, including Israel. Additionally, India has no formal treaty or agreement with Israel to engage in joint military operations or fight in wars together.
Conclusion
It is evident from #DFRAC’s FactCheck that the viral claim alleging 12 Indian soldiers killed in Gaza is completely misleading. In reality, only one Indian-origin Israeli soldier along with other Israeli soldiers, has been killed fighting the Hamas terrorists in the Gaza strip
