Fact Check: Viral Video of Massive Firecrackers Not From Dimapur Stadium, Nagaland

A video of massive firecrackers in a stadium is going viral. In the video the stadium can be seen covered with heavy fire works. While sharing the video, social media users are claiming that the video is from Dimapur Stadium Nagaland.

An X user named Xplore_Nagaland shared the video with the caption,” #HappyDeepavali With love from Nagaland,Dimapur stadium #Deepavali2024 celebration” The post has garnered 126k views.

Another X uer named Organiser Weekly also shared the similar video claiming it to be from Dimapur Nagaland.

Fact Check

We investigated the viral video by putting the KeyFrames from the video in Google Reverse Image Search. On investigation, we found the video shared on X dated october 30, 2024 where it mentioned, “The Estadio Monumental, in Buenos Aires, was filled with fireworks ahead of the 2024 Copa Libertadores semi-final.”

Additionally, a media report by ESbeINSPORTS dated October 31,2024 stated,” River Plate’s stadium was shut down due to unauthorized use of fireworks by the ‘millonarios’ fans during Tuesday’s match against Atlético Mineiro, as they fought for a spot in the Copa Libertadores final, according to official sources.”

Furthermore, we also the same video on the same news channel on Instagram informing They say a picture’s worth a thousand words but seeing “El Monumental” leaves you speechless STUNNING welcome for River Plate in the Libertadores semifinals.

Conclusion

The viral video claiming to show massive firecrackers at Dimapur Stadium in Nagaland is false. The video is actually from the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where fans of River Plate celebrated with fireworks during the Copa Libertadores semi-final match against Atlético Mineiro.
