An image showing some soldiers in knee position and their hands behind their backs is making rounds on social media platform X(formerly Twitter) with the claim that Hezbollah has captured IDF soldiers in South Lebanon.
Taking to X, a user named Haider posted this image: “In picture: Hezbollah has captured many Zionist terrorists in South Lebanon.”
The image has accumulated around one million views so far.
Furthermore, several other users also shared this image and made similar claims. The preview can be seen here and here.
Fact-check
In the probe, the DFRAC team found that the above-shared image is AI-generated and the claim made through the image is also false.
On close inspection, we found some discrepanies in the image, such as unnaturally long and short feet of the soldiers.
To verify the image further, we examined it using AI image detectors such as Hugging Face and AIimagedetector. Both of them certified it as generated by AI.
For authenticity of the claim shared with viral image, we conducted a Google keyword search and found that no such reports were available online supporting the above claim.
Surprisingly, we came across the latest reports from The Times of Israel and Alalarabiya News stating that the IDF said that it had nabbed 3 members of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan forces after discovering them in a shaft underneath a building in southern Lebanon, amid the ground offensive against the Lebanese terror group.
In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces said that troops from the Golani Brigade’s 13th Battalion discovered the Radwan operatives “entrenched” in the shaft “alongside many weapons and equipment needed for a long stay.”
Conclusion
It is evident from DFRAC ‘s fact-check that the image shared above is AI-generated, not real. Moreover, the claim made through the image is also false.
