Old video of a boy disguised as a girl wearing a Burqa from Bangladesh falsely linked with India

On social media, a video of a boy disguised as a girl wearing a burqa is being shared. While sharing the video users claim that “Forget UCC PMOIndia! Let them stew in their own juices. Handle the menace and national security risk that emanates from the #BurkaHijabANDNikaab! They know how to weaponise their women!”

Fact Check

During the investigation, DFRAC found that this video was from Bangladesh and dated back to 2021. We found a similar video on the YouTube channel ‘Smile TV’ uploaded on 11 March 2021 titled “Two traders arrested in police operation while smuggling drugs while pregnant, sent to jail. Smile TV”

Furthermore, we also found a report from ‘Cvoice24’ published on 9 March 2021 stating “Police have arrested two people in Roujan, Chittagong while smuggling drugs in a CNG-driven auto-rickshaw, disguised as a woman wearing a burqa. They were arrested on Tuesday (March 9, 2021)  afternoon from Chittagong-Rangamati road adjacent to CMB Mosque in Jalil Nagar of Raujan municipality”.

Conclusion

It is evident from the DFRAC’s fact check that the viral video is from Bangladesh, not from India and dates back to 2021. Therefore, the claim of social media users is misleading.

Fact Check: No, Pakistan’s J-10C Did Not Shoot Down an Indian Rafale Over the LoC Dramatic silhouette of a Chinese-made J-10C fighter jet in mid-flight against a vivid sunset sky, with its afterburner trail illuminated in the twilight. The image was featured in a viral social media post by a Pakistani defense account, falsely claiming that the aircraft had successfully shot down an Indian Rafale jet during an aerial encounter over the Line of Control (LoC). The claim was later fact-checked and debunked by Indian authorities as misinformation.
