Amid this, an image of an Iranian Paralympic athlete has gone viral on X. While sharing this image, users claim that an Iranian Athlete Beit Sayah Sadegh. openly displayed the ISIS flag Disqualified
A user named ‘Mr Sinha’ posted this image on X and wrote “He’s Iranian Athlete Beit Sayah Sadegh. After winning the gold in Paralympics2024, he openly displayed the ISIS flag Disqualified…! Imagine displaying the ISIS flag openly and getting away with a mere disqualification. He should have been treated like a terr0rist”.
Fact Check
On investigation, DFRAC found multiple reports regarding the image. According to ESPN.in dated 8 Sept , “Post his ‘victory’ Sayah unfurled a flag that he later claimed was that of Umm al-Banin, wife of Ali ibn Abi Talib, the first Shia Imam”.
Furthermore, we also found a report from shia waves stating “Gold Medal of Iranian Athlete Awarded to Next Competitor After Holding Up ‘Ya Umm al-Banin’ Flag”.

Conclusion
It is evident from the DFRAC’s fact check that the Iranian Athlete Beit Sayah Sadegh holding up the ‘Ya Umm al-Banin’ Flag, It has nothing to do with the ISIS flag. Therefore, the claim of social media users is misleading.
