Fact Check

On a close inspection of the viral image, DFRAC found that this image is digitally altered. We found the same image of Rihanna with a different background on ‘gettyimages’ stating “Rihanna receives the 2017 Harvard University Humanitarian of the Year Award at Harvard University’s Sanders Theatre on February 28, 2017 in Cambridge, Massachusetts”.

Furthermore, we also reverse-searched for the image of PM Narendra Modi, which led us to a YouTube video showing Modi in similar attire with the caption: PM Shri Narendra Modi addresses Traders Sammelan in Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi: 19.04.2019. You can see the disparities in the collage given below.

It is evident from the DFRAC’s fact check that the viral image of Modi looking at Rihanna is digitally altered.
