An image of a huge fire that broke out in an aircraft carrier is making rounds on social media plaform X(formerly Twitter). Several users are sharing this image and claiming that Houthis hit an American aircraft carrier, the ship is about to sink and a huge fire broke out

Other X handles also posted this image and made a similar claim

To investigate the authenticity of the viral image, the DFRAC team conducted a keyword research on google in this regard that led us to the images of US Aircraft carriers available on various websites. A close comparison of those images with the viral image reveals certain minute differences which can be seen in the collage given below

Following this, we investigated the viral image using AI detectors such as Hugging Face and Hive Moderation. Both detectors certified it as AI-generated

Conclusion

It is evident from DFRAC’s fact-check that the viral image is AI-generated, not an authentic one.
