Fact Check:

On investigation, DFRAC found many media reports regarding this video. ‘Indian Express’ states “In a new video shared by BJP’s West Bengal unit president Sukanta Majumdar, a strong TMC leader Jayant Singh and his associates are seen brutally beating a man by holding his hands and legs at a local club in Kamarhati in North 24 Parganas district. Jayant Singh was arrested after surrendering to the police on July 4 for his involvement in an incident. Apart from Jayant Singh, the police have also arrested 9 other people related to the case”.

Further, ‘Jansatta’ News also uploaded this report mentioning “the statement of a police officer who has said that he is investigating the incident and that the incident must have taken place in March 2021, when a man and a woman were allegedly caught near the club on suspicion of being thieves”.

Moreover, In the report of ‘Amar Ujala’ also the name of Jayant Singh has been written as the accused of this incident.

Conclusion:

DFRAC’s fact check clears that the video is of an incident in West Bengal and the main accused in this incident is Jayant Singh associated with TMC. Therefore, the claim of social media users that a woman was beaten up by Muslims is misleading.

The image was featured in a viral social media post by a Pakistani defense account, falsely claiming that the aircraft had successfully shot down an Indian Rafale jet during an aerial encounter over the Line of Control (LoC). The claim was later fact-checked and debunked by Indian authorities as misinformation.
