A large crowd had gathered in a village in Hathras district for a sermon by a popular preacher Narayan Saakar Hari aka ‘Bhole Baba’. At least 116 people were killed and many more injured in a stampede that occurred Tuesday evening during the religious gathering.
Amidst this, a claim was widely shared. Linking to this incident, the claim stated, ” Hathras Satsang accident: police constable suffers heart attack after seeing piles of dead bodies, dies during treatment”.
The claim was widely shared by multiple media houses.
Following these media houses, Twitter users also shared similar claims.
Fact Check
The DFRAC team investigated the viral claim and found the claim is False. During the process, we found Etah Police’s statement on the Constable from their official media handle on Twitter. A byte given by the Senior Superintendent of Etah Police on their official handle clarifies, “On 02.07.2024, constable Ravi, who was posted on QRT duty, fell ill and was brought to the hospital for treatment, where he died during treatment. Some news channels and social media platforms are broadcasting news with the title “The constable got a heart attack after seeing the dead bodies”. This is denied by Etah Police. Conclusion
Thus from the fact check it is clear that the constable was posted at another place on QRT duty where he fell ill and succumbed to death during the treatment. His loss of life is not associated with the Hathras stampede case.
