A video has emerged online showing an old man being beaten by a police official who later drags the old man through collar and brutally beating up again by dangling him off the platform’s edge. A bangladeshi handle has shared this video and claimed that the old man seen in the video is Muslim.
Sharing this video on X, an account named Faryal Sikder operating from Bangladesh, wrote: “ Police brutality on an elderly Muslim man. (Translated from Bengali)

Fact-Check
Upon reverse-searching the key-frames generated from the above viral video, the DFRAC team found some reports from Jansatta, NDTV, Navbharat Times and Abplive published two years back.
A report by Abplive dated July 29, 2022 stated : “A police constable in Madhya Pradesh was suspended on Friday after a video of him kicking an elderly man at Jabalpur railway station went viral, leading to outrage. The suspension of the constable was confirmed by Superintendent of Police, Rewa. The incident is from Thursday”
Further, the report mentioned: “The victim, police said , has been identified as Gopal Prasad, NDTV reported”
Whereas, Navbharat Times report from July 30, 2022 cited: “In the video, the constable is allegedly seen repeatedly kicking the elderly man. The elderly man has been identified as Gopal Prasad, a resident of Narsinghpur district adjoining Jabalpur”
Conclusion
It is evident from DFRAC’s fact-check that the victim seen in the above-shared video is not a Muslim. Moreover, the video is from 2022, not the recent one.
