An image has recently surfaced on a social media site X (Twitter) showing Israel’s ambassador to the UN holding a sign that reads: “The Butcher of Iran will not be missed”. The image has been shared by several users on X

Fact-Check
The DFRAC team conducted a reverse-image search of this viral image. We found some reports from Dailymail.co.UK and The Palestine Chronicle carrying a similar image which depicted him holding a sign “Iranian women deserve freedom NOW!”. The reports were from September 2023.

Furthermore, the reports stated that Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations was briefly detained by security at the UN General Assembly for protesting during the Iranian president’s speech.

It is evident from DFRAC’s fact-check that the viral image of Israel’s ambassador to the UN showing him holding a sign: ” The Butcher of Iran will not be missed” is digitally altered. Originally, the sign carried the text: “Iranian women deserve freedom NOW”
