Fact-Check
To verify the authenticity of the above viral video, the DFRAC team converted it into some keyframes and reverse-searched it on Google. Meanwhile, we found a video on CNN’s YouTube channel with the caption: ” CNN reporter assaulted on live TV in Mumbai, India”. As per the video’s description, Journalist and author Sunny Hundal talks to CNN’s Sara Sidner about the rise in reported gang rapes in India.
In the video, Journalist Sara Sidner narrated an incident that happened in 2008 when she was reporting live during the Mumbai terror attacks of 26/11.
Not only this, but the YouTube video also carries the same part of the video clip that has recently surfaced on X.
Conclusion
It is evident from DFRAC’s fact-check that the recently surfaced video clip is misleading as it shows the incident that took place in 2008, not a recent one.
