Did Muslims in Inderlok create a traffic jam and offer prayers challenging the Delhi Police? Read – Fact Check

Inderlok muslim namazi

A video is going viral on social media. It is being claimed that in Inderlok, where a policeman had kicked those offering prayers on the road, this Friday, both sides of the road were jammed to offer prayers at the same spot. Social media users are challenging the Delhi Police over this.

Sharing the video, a user named “Akhanda Bharat Sankalp” wrote, “This is a direct challenge to @DelhiPolice! The entire road in Inderlok was blocked for Friday prayers! If you suspend officers who stop criminals by kicking them, they will urinate on your head. Now both sides of the road are blocked and the officers have disappeared into their dens.”

The same video has been shared by several other users, which can be read by clicking here, here, and here.

Fact Check:

The DFRAC team observed the official handle of DCP North Delhi (@DcpNorthDelhi) in reference to the viral video. It was stated that the viral video is not from this Friday. It is an old video from Eid. Traffic was normal on both sides of the road, and no such incident occurred.

Meanwhile, the DFRAC team searched for some keywords on Google regarding Friday prayers in Inderlok. We found some media reports that stated that on the Friday before Ramadan, prayers were peacefully offered in Inderlok. This time, prayers were offered inside the mosque. According to a report published on the Hindustan newspaper’s website, security arrangements were tight in Indralok this Friday considering the uproar that occurred last Friday. The Friday prayers before Ramadan were conducted in a peaceful atmosphere. This week, prayers were not offered on the road. All worshippers remained inside the mosque premises.

Conclusion:

From the clarification by the DCP North Delhi and media reports, it is clear that the viral video is not from this Friday but an old video of offering prayers on the occasion of Eid. Therefore, the claim made by social media users is misleading.
