A video showing a baby tusker entering in local area, triggering panic among locals, has surfaced on X(Twitter). The video has been shared by a Pak-based account on X(Twitter) claiming that Elephant got dysentery after eating street food.

Crime Reports India, known for disseminating misinformation, shared this video on X(Twitter) and wrote: ” Elephant got dysentery after eating street food. Angry it went looking for the vendor”.

Fact-Check

The DFRAC team investigated this video by converting it into some keyframes and reverse-searched it on Google. During this process, the team found several media reports from March 9, 2024.

Media Reports from Hindustan Times, ANI and Republic

According to a media report by ANI, a wild elephant enters a residential locality in Karnataka’s Kodagu district, triggering panic. The elephant, which made its way through the Kunda road, the forest college paddy field APCMS garden and the main road was also seen going back the same way it had entered. Elephants are usually found in the coffee plantations of the nearby forest. The Forest Department promptly dispatched personnel and safely guided the elephant back to its natural habitat.

Furthermore, other media reports from Hindustan Times and Republic also stated similar facts in the context of the above video.

Conclusion

 It is evident from DFRAC’s fact-check that the viral video claiming Elephant got dysentery after eating street food is misleading, as no such claim has been found in media reports.

Hence, the claim made by Crime Reports India is false.
