A video is going viral on social media site X(Twitter) showing some people disparaging the national flag. Users on X(Twitter) are fiercely this video and questioning the claim that how can farmers be the ones who insult the country’s tricolour flag?
Sharing this video on X(Twitter), an account of media outlet Bharat Tak wrote: “How can there be farmers who hit the country’s tricolour with their feet? How can someone be the one who does not know how to respect his national flag, his country’s tricolour?”
Moreover, the video was also shared by a user named Amitabh Chaudhary making similar claims.
Fact-Check
The DFRAC team investigated the above viral video. For Investigation, we converted it into some keyframes and reverse-searched it on Google. Meanwhile, we found some media reports, revealing that the video is not from India. Some Khalistani separatists in Canada insulted the tricolour last year in 2023. They tied the ball in the tricolour and kicked it.
It is noteworthy that the video was posted by a Parody account of the media outlet Bharat Tak with a different username which is not similar to the username of the official account of Bharat Tak, part of Media Company India Today. Here’s a collage below that will show the difference.
Conclusion
It is clear from DFRAC’s Fact-check that the viral video claiming Farmers associated with ongoing protests insulted the Tricolor Flag is misleading as the video shows some Khalistani separatists in Canada insulted the tricolour last year in 2023.
