Amid Farmers’ Dilli Chalo March 2024 which began today despite hours of dialogue, a video showing live reporting from the Shambu border is going viral on social media site X(Twitter) with the claim that an Aajtak reporter got shot by a bullet during live coverage. Users on the Internet, are fiercely sharing this video and claiming that the Aaj Tak reporter shot in live news.
Sharing this video on X(Twitter), a user named @raviagrawal3 wrote: “Breaking Alerts, Aaj Tak reporter got shot by bullets fired by rioters.
Furthermore, we found that the other users also shared this video and made similar claims.
Fact-Check
To investigate the claim made through the above viral video, the DFRAC team searched some words on Google in this context and found a media report from India Today citing that a reporter of Aaj Tak named Satyendra Chauhan was injured after he was hit by a rubber bullet amid the chaos that broke out at the farmers’ protest at Shambhu on the Punjab-Haryana border.
Moreover, another report by Free Press Journal also stated similar facts regarding the above viral video.
Conclusion
It is clear from DFRAC’s fact-check that the Aajtak reporter was injured by a rubber bullet while he was covering farmers’ protest at the Shambu border., Hence, the claim of social media users is false.
