Fact Check: Did Captain America sign bombs intended to drop on children in the Middle East?

An image is being circulated on X (formerly Twitter) where Chris Evans who played the character of Captain America, from Marvel Comics is seen signing a bomb. A user (@ecomarxi) captioned the image as, “Captain America signing bombs to drop on children is the most American thing he’s ever done”. This is in light of the genocide of Palestinians by Israel aided by America.

Fact Check

Upon investigating, however, via reverse image search, the DFRAC team found the caption to be misleading. The image was photographed in the year 2016 and is not as recent as the tweet claims to be. It was photographed when Chris Evans visited the Incirlik Air Base in Turkey, where he signed a shell for a U.S. Air Force airman.

Therefore, it is confirmed by DFRAC’s fact check that the viral claim is misleading. Chris Evans has not signed the bombs to be dropped on children in Gaza.
