Similarly, a video is being circulated by Pak accounts with the claim that it depicts Pakistan’s response to strikes from Iran.
Who shared the claim?
An account named Farhan Malick shared the video and wrote, “ Pak knows how to retaliate”.
Following, the account, other users also started to share the video with similar claim.
Fact Check
We investigated the viral video by putting the key frames from the video into reverse search. During the investigation, we discovered an identical video on YouTube, posted over 5 years ago in April 2018. The footage features the Indian Army BM-21 Grad artillery in action.
The Indian Army has a long history of using rocket artillery. The Indian Army had the 62xBM-30 Smerch systems and the BM-21 Grad launchers. Both these MLRS systems are of Russian origin.
Conclusion
Thus the viral video is shared with misleading claim as the video is unrelated to the Pakistan army or any ongoing attacks from Iran on Pakistan.
