Who shared the claim?
An account named South Asia Journal posted a video with a claim “65 years old Hindu #Temple closed in Dubai”. The video is shot by the media house The National, where devotees are seen expressing their emotions on the news about the temple being closed.
Another account named @asiandigest reposted the post with similar claims.
Another user was also found to share a similar claim.
Fact Check
We investigated the viral claim. On close inspection of the video, shared by the users, we found that it mentions the relocation of the temple.
Following this, we looked for the media reports. We found an article by Siasat Daily. They mentioned, “A 65-year-old Shiva temple in Bur Dubai has closed its door to worshipers to relocate its services to a new Hindu temple in Jebel Ali, starting from Wednesday, January 3.”
The reason for the relocation was mentioned that due to space congestion and not being able to accommodate more worshipers, the temple is being relocated.
On December 7, the temple management posted notices at the temple premises stating that, “This is to inform all our devotees with effect from Wednesday, January 03, 2024. This temple will be shifted to our new Hindu temple, Jebel Ali.”
