Recent news of encroachment misleadingly shared with false claim

News is going viral on social media platforms stating that a bulldozer ran on Mamu Bhanje Dargah at Rani Jhansi Road in Paharganj, Delhi. Users on social media are sharing this news claiming that Muslim Tomb and mosques are on target across the country including Delhi/UP.

Posting a video on X (Twitter), Pak Based Handle @AsianDigest, which is known for sharing false news, wrote: “In Delhi, bulldozer ran on “Mamu Bhanje Islamic Dargah” located on Rani Jhansi Road. Muslim Tomb & Mosques are on target across the country including Delhi/UP”

Fact-Check

To determine the authenticity of the viral news, the DFRAC team searched some keywords in the context of the above viral news. Meanwhile, we found a video on the official YouTube channel of ‘ABP Live’ with the caption: “Encroachment removed from the near temple and tomb, MCD took action” (Translated to English).

Media reports from TOI and TV9Bharatvarsh

According to a media report published by the Newspaper website “Times of India”, Parts of two religious structures on Rani Jhansi Road, which were allegedly encroaching upon the road and causing problems to the flow of traffic, were demolished by authorities. Bulldozers were deployed to demolish the “illegal structures”.

Another media report by TV9 Bharatvarsh also stated that MCD officials and employees have done the work of removing encroachment from near the temple and mosque. MCD is taking action against encroachment in Delhi.

Conclusion

It is clear from DFRAC’s Fact-Check that the authorities have demolished the encroachment that was done near the Temple and Mosque on Rani Jhansi Road in Paharganj, Delhi.
