A video is going viral on social media showing some people collecting the money from the donation boxes in several bags. Users on social media are sharing this video and claiming that the people of the Muslim community are carrying away the money donated to Shirdi Sai Temple in bags.
Sharing this video on X(Twitter), a user named Rahul Prince wrote: “See for yourself where the money earned by Hindus deposited in Shirdi Sai is going! Make it so viral that it reaches every Hindu in the country who has become blind despite having eyes?”
Furthermore, we found that the video was shared by other users with similar claims.
Fact-Check
To determine the reality of the above viral video, the DFRAC team converted it into some keyframes and reverse-searched it on Google. Meanwhile, we found this video on a Facebook page named “Kishoreganj Views”. The video was posted on May 6, 2023. Moreover, the caption of the video in Bengali language reads: “Eight Donbucks of the historic Pagal Masjid of Kishoreganj have opened after four months. Now a record amount of 5 crore 59 lakh 7 thousand 689 taka foreign currency and gold ornaments were also found in the donation boxes. Now a diamond nose was found. 200 people count this money in about 13 hours. Dawnbox opens at 8 am on Saturday (6 May)”.
In addition, according to a media report by ‘Kaler kantho’, after 118 days, the chest of Kishoreganj’s Pagla Mosque was opened, revealing eight donation boxes and 19 sacks of cash totaling an astonishing 55.9 million taka. This sum has shattered all previous fundraising records for the mosque.
Conclusion
It is clear from DFRAC’s Fact-Check that the viral video is unrelated to Shirdi Sai Temple but related to the Mosque in Kishoreganj, Bangladesh. Hence, the claim of social media users is misleading.
