A lot of misinformation is disseminated by multiple users on social media. We also came across a video that is going viral on social media in which a flag can be seen. The user ,who is sharing the video, is claiming that a Pakistani flag was spotted near Bombay Airport.
The claim made by a user
An X user named Faris shared the video and wrote, “Pakistani flag spotted near Bombay Airport”.
Fact Check
When we inspected the video closely, we found that the flag that is shown in the video is of the Indian Union Muslim League, which is an Indian political party. This political party is primarily based in Kerala. It has been acknowledged by the Indian Election Commission as a State Party in Kerala.
When we compared the flags of Pakistan and the Indian Union Muslim League the we found some differences. There is no white stripe in the Indian Union Muslim League’s flag which can be seen in Pak’s flag.
The flag in the video does not have any white stripe but matched with the flag of the Indian Union Muslim League.
Earlier, we have performed a similar fact-check in which users have similarly misquoted IUML (Indian Union Muslim League’s) Flag as Pakistan’s Flag.
Conclusion
Therefore, it is clear from the DFRAC fact check that the claim made by a user that the flag shown in the video is of Pakistan is misleading as this flag is of the Indian Union Muslim League, which is a political party in India.
