Fact Check
To investigate the truth behind the viral document DFRAC team searched the official facebook account of the ‘Official Gazette of the Republic of the Philippines’ where we discovered a statement mentioning : “ATTENTION: The document circulating as Proclamation No. 427, declaring Friday, 22 December 2023, as a special (half-working) day throughout the Philippines under the signature of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., is false. It has been edited to appear as an official government declaration, but it lacks any official status or authentication”.
Moreover, on reverse-searching the documents we found some media reports from The Filipino Times and cnnphilippines.com which stated, “The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) has denied the circulating proclamation allegedly signed by President Bongbong Marcos declaring December 22 as a special half-working holiday”.
