A video of Modi’s speech is going viral on social media platforms. In the video, PM Narendra Modi can be heard saying that a few developed countries including US use Ballot Paper in the voting process during Elections. Users on social media are fiercely sharing this video and claiming that PM Modi preferred Ballot Paper over EVM (Electronic Voting Machine).

Fact-Check

To verify the authenticity of the viral video, the DFRAC team converted it into some keyframes and reverse-searched it on Google.

We found the full video on the official YouTube Channel of PM Narendra Modi captioning: “PM Modi at Parivartan Rally in New Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh”. In the video, Modi can be heard praising EVM over Ballot Paper at the duration of 55 minutes and 11 seconds. Originally, he condemned a few developed countries for using Ballot paper in their voting process during Elections and praising India’s advanced electronic voting system through EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines). Moreover, video was uploaded on Dec 3, 2016.

Conclusion

It is clear from DFRAC’s Fact-Check that the viral video is the cropped version of the full video which has been shared in a false context.

Hence, the claim of social media users is false
