Fact-Check
To verify the authenticity of the viral video, the DFRAC team converted it into some keyframes and reverse-searched it on Google.
Queen Raina’s Interview on YouTube
We found that the viral video on X(Twitter) is quite similar to Queen Raina’s interview given to News Channel ‘CNN’ which can be seen on CNN’s Official YouTube Channel. In her interview, she says: “ There is a “glaring double standard” as the Western world condemns the Hamas attack on October 7 but is not condemning Israel’s bombing of Gaza or calling for a ceasefire” She further added: “When October 7 happened, the world immediately and unequivocally stood by Israel and its right to defend itself and condemned the attack that happened… but what we’re seeing in the last couple of weeks, we’re silence in the world”.
“Are we being told that it is wrong to kill a family, an entire family, at gunpoint, but it’s okay to shell them to death? I mean, there is a glaring double standard here” she said in her exclusive interview.
It can be concluded that the viral video of Queen Raina’s interview is edited.
Article by Reuters
News agency Reuters published an article on October 11, 2023, with the Headline: Jordan says no stability in region without Palestinian state. In this article, Reuters stated: “Jordan’s King Abdullah said that no peace was possible in the Middle East without the emergence of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel. A two-state solution was the only option, the monarch told deputies in a speech at the opening of a new parliamentary session. King Abdullah has since the start of the latest conflict been engaged in a flurry of diplomatic efforts with Western and regional leaders urging swift action to de-escalate the situation”.
Conclusion
It is clear from DFRAC’s Fact-Check that the viral video showing Queen Raina’s statement Jordan is standing with Israel is misleading. In fact, the viral video is digitally altered and it is part of Queen Raina’s recent interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour amid the Israel-Hamas Conflict.
