Fact Check
To know the truth of the viral video, the DFRAC team converted the video into some keyframes and reverse-searched it on Google. We found that the video was also uploaded on a YouTube channel named AlArabiya Arabic with the caption “Syrian child Muhammad quenches his thirst after hours under the rubble” on 8 February 2023
When we investigated further, we also found that the same video was uploaded on The Times of India website on 9 February 2023. The article read “Rescue teams have found a young Syrian boy under rubble outside the Turkish city of Antakya. Rescuers used a bottle lid to give some water to Muhammed, as they worked to free him from rubble left by the earthquake. Muhammed was rescued nearly 45 hours after the quake”.
A news article related to the viral video
The Mint also published the news on 9 February which says, Parched toddler shows the warmest smile drinking water after 45 hours.
Conclusion
Thus, it is clear from the DFRAC’s fact check that the claim regarding the above viral video is misleading. This video is from the Turkey earthquake that occurred 8 months ago, not from the Israel- Palestine conflict.
