Events of burning the Quran are coming from many countries, all over the world. Recently, a video is going viral on social media where a Hindu child living in Chicago, America burnt the holy book, the Quran.
An account named South Asian Journal has shared a video and wrote “Radical Hindu extremist burns Quran in Chicago, America. RSS started this trend in India which now has been moved all over the world by non-residential Indians”.
Other users are also claiming the same by sharing the video.
Fact Check
To know the truth about the claim, the DFRAC team searched some keywords on Google. Our team didn’t find any media reports through which it is said that RSS started the trend.
How did the trend of burning the Quran start?
During the research, we found a media report, in which it has said that on the anniversary of the 9/11 attack, a small church named Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville-Florida, America had announced to celebrate “International Burn a Quran Day” in the year 2010.
Conclusion
From the fact check of the DFRAC team, it is clear that the claim about the viral video is wrong. We didn’t find any media report in which it is stated that RSS started the trend of burning the Quran. Henceforth, the social media users’ claim is misleading.
