Fact-Check
To learn the truth of the above viral claim, the DFRAC team conducted a Keyword search in this context. The team found some media reports during this process.
Newspaper Website Jansatta published a news article with the headline: “Government will take back 123 properties from Waqkf Board, Know the Matter”. In this news, Jansatta revealed: “The mosque that has been included in this list is not Jama Masjid near LalQuila. This is a separate mosque which is located in Central Delhi”.
The picture of Delhi’s historical Jama Masjid is not posted in this news.
To avoid confusion, other media houses also mentioned “Jama Masjid which is located in front of Parliament, is included in the list, not the historical Jama Masjid near Lal Quila” in their news.
Conclusion
It is clear from DFRAC’s Fact-Check that properties which the Central govt. is going to be take back, includes the Jama Masjid which is located in front of Parliament, not the Jama masjid near Lal Quila. Hence, claim of users including Sudhir Mishra and Vivek Pandey is misleading.
