A video is going viral on social media claiming that some jihadis have attacked the Raghunath Temple and Families of Hindus with bricks and illegal weapons in UP’s Hardoi. Users on social media are fiercely sharing this video on the Internet.
Sagar Kumar, Journalist from Sudarshan News posted this video on Twitter and wrote: “Jihadis attacked the temple. In UP’s Hardoi, Muslim miscreants have attacked the “Raghunath Temple” with the intention of spreading terror. Hindu families of Pragati Nagar have also been attacked with bricks and stones as well as firing with illegal weapons”.(English Translation)
Moreover, another Journalist by the name of Rajat Mishra also shared this video along with the same caption.
Re-quoting this video, a user says: “These attackers are not only jihadis but also terrorists, police will not work for them, now army is needed”(English Translation)
Fact-Check
To verify the claims made through the above viral video, the DFRAC team converted the viral video into some keyframes and reverse-searched it on Google. Meanwhile, the team discovered a press brief note posted by Hardoi police on Twitter with the caption: “Details of action taken in connection with the incident of fight that took place under Kotwali Dehat area”.
According to this press brief note, “the investigation didn’t reveal any attack on Temple”. It was an ordinary case of scuffle between two parties.
Conclusion
It is clear from DFRAC’s Fact-Check that the claim stating jihadis have attacked the Raghunath Temple in UP’s Hardoi is completely fake. The Police investigation didn’t highlight any attack on Temple in this case.
