On August 23, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) achieved a significant milestone by successfully landing the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft on the lunar south pole. This remarkable accomplishment has gained global recognition and praise on social media platforms.
However, there is also a significant rise of videos with fake claims, circulating regarding Chandrayaan-3. A video of students chanting ‘Allah-hu-Akbar’ is circulating online. Social media user, Megh Updates has shared the video, claiming that Kashmiri students at Mewar University in Rajasthan assaulted an engineering student for celebrating the achievement of Chandrayaan3.
Multiple other Social Media users were also found to share the video with the same claim.
Fact Check
The DFRAC team investigated the video by a reverse image search of some key frames from the video. We found multiple news reports by ABPnews, Aajtak and nbthindi, published on August 26.
Reports said,”There was a dispute between Kashmiri and local students at Mewar University in Rajasthan. During this, many students were injured in the stone pelting. The condition of two is serious”
Furthermore, reports said ,”On the information of this incident of Mewar University campus, the people of the Hindu organization of the town reached the university. During this, there are allegations of religious slogans and stone pelting by Kashmiri students. At present, heavy police force has been deployed outside the campus. Police have appealed to both the groups to maintain peace.”
Conclusion
From the fact check, it is evident that the claim is misleading. The clash began over skipping the queue in the mess at the University and had nothing to do with the landing of Chandrayaan3.
