Thousands of Russia- linked Wagner mercenaries have arrived in Belarus since the group’s short-lived rebellion. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko welcomed Wagner forces into the country after a mutiny between the Kremlin and Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin last month. Amid this, a video is going viral on social media claiming that Russia tries to scare Poland by placing thousands of Wagner troops in Belarus.
A media and news company named Visegrade 24 posted a video and wrote: “Russia is trying to scare Poland by placing a couple thousand Wagner troops in Belarus. The Polish Army would crush any Wagner incursion within a few hours and Lukashenko knows it”.
Not only this, another media and news company by the name of Ukraine News posted the same video with the same caption.
Moreover, several users posted this video with similar claims.
Fact-Check
To verify the claims of the above viral video, the Dfrac team converted the viral video into keyframes and reverse-searched it on Google. Meanwhile, the team found the same video posted on a Twitter account named Warszawska Brygada Pancerna with the caption: “Night parade rehearsal #SilnaBiałoCzerwona)”.
Not only this, but the team also discovered this video on an Instagram account named mighty_Poland captioning: “The Polish Military is preparing for the largest military parade since 1989 to celebrate the Polish Army Day. On 15 August, 2000 soldiers, 200 military vehicles and 90 aircraft will take part in the parade in Warsaw”.
Conclusion
Dfrac ‘s FactCheck has proved that the claims related to the above viral video are misleading as the viral video is associated with the Polish Military who has been preparing for the largest military parade since 1989 to celebrate the Polish Army Day on 15 august.
