A video is going viral on social media in which it can be seen that the Shobha Yatra of Ambedkar Jayanti is going out, on which stones have been pelted by some people. Social media users are claiming that people from the Muslim community pelted stones at the Ambedkar Jayanti procession.
Sharing this video, a verified user named Prakash Dhavarayya wrote – “Muslim brothers stopped Baba Saheb Ambedkar Yatra by pelting stones and returning it upside down. Where are the Dalit thinkers hiding? @BhimArmyChief Can’t politics happen here? Is he not a Dalit?” (English Translation). According to Prakash Dhavarayya’s Twitter bio, he is the founder of ‘Rashtriya Savarna Parishad-RSP’.
Simultaneously, many other users are also sharing this video with similar claims.
Fact Check:
To verify the viral claim, the DFRAC team converted the video into separate frames and performed a reverse search. We found a report by ‘Republic Bharat’ in which the viral video can be seen. According to this report, this incident of stone pelting in Ambedkar Jayanti Shobha Yatra took place in Bhartia village of Jaint police station area of Mathura district in Uttar Pradesh.
Our team searched some keywords on Google regarding stone pelting on Ambedkar Jayanti in Bhartia village. We found a report by ‘TV-9 Hindi’ which claimed that as soon as the Shobha Yatra reached the locality of the Thakurs, people started opposing the Shobha Yatra. The police pacified the atmosphere by using mild force. In the context of the same incident, it has been said that there was stone pelting which occurred for about half an hour.
Simultaneously, in the context of this incident, our team found a report of ‘Times of India’. According to this report, the police have taken action against those who pelted stones. Police have registered a case against 40 people, in which 9 people have been named. Apart from this, the police have arrested the accused named Surajbhan, Hukum Singh and Pratap Singh involved in the stone pelting incident.

It is clear from DFRAC’s fact check that the claim doing the rounds on social media is false. According to media reports, the Thakurs threw stones at Ambedkar Jayanti’s Shobha Yatra.
