A video of former Congress President Rahul Gandhi is going viral on social media, in which he is seen trying to shake hands with a physically challenged person sitting on a wheelchair without hands and legs.
A Twitter Blue subscriber named Bala who is also followed by Narendra Modi himself on Twitter, posted a nine-second video clip and wrote that this man is the most problematic and intellectually challenged person he has ever seen. Rahul Gandhi tried to shake hands with a person sitting on a wheelchair without hands… unbelievable!
Another Twitter user named Hardik also shared this clip, writing that Rahul Gandhi is trying to shake hands with a person without hands. Is this true? This video clip has been viewed thousands of times and shared many times.
Fact Check:
To investigate the viral video clip, the DFRAC team first converted the clip into a frame and then performed a reverse search. During this search, we found another video on Twitter. Congress worker Shantanu shared this video. In this 47-second video, it can be seen that a person sitting on a wheelchair hands over his hand to Rahul Gandhi. Rahul not only shakes his hand with him but also hugs him.
Moreover, The INC Puducherry Chairman, Korkadu Ashok (@dharunkumaran) replied the longer version video to @erbmjha. Mentioning that the person on wheelchair raised his right arm first.
Conclusion:
Therefore, it is clear from DFRAC’s fact check that the viral video clip is misleading because it has been clipped.
