A blast occurred in a house in Bulandshahr resulting in the death of five people. According to media reports, the house was being used for making chemicals. However, several claims are being shared on social media regarding this incident. Social media users claim that the house where the blast occurred belongs to Shafique, who lives near a mosque.

Verified user Sudhir Mishra (@Sudhir_mish) tweeted, “A blast occurred in Shafique’s house, who lives near a mosque in Bulandshahr. Chemical-filled drums were found in the house. The surrounding houses were also damaged, and the body parts of the deceased were scattered far and wide.” (English Translation)

Zee News anchor Shobhana Yadav also tweeted, “A youth died in Bulandshahr due to a chemical bomb explosion. Other chemical bombs were also found in the house. The youth’s name is being reported as Shafique, and the neighboring houses were also damaged.”

After an alleged controversial comment on Prophet Mohammed, Navin Kumar Jindal was expelled from BJP, and he too tweeted a fake tweet regarding the Bulandshahr incident.

Several other users are sharing photos and videos claiming that the incident took place near the mosque.

Fact Check:

To verify the viral claims, DFRAC’s team searched on Google and found a report from Dainik Bhaskar. The report reveals that Satish is the owner of the house where the blast occurred. The house was rented out to Rajkumar, who used it for chemical work. Rajkumar’s brother Vinod, security personnel Abhishek, laborer Chandra Pal, five-year-old Ahad, and his father Raees died in the incident.

Various other reports also confirm that Satish owns the house and had rented it out to Rajkumar.

Conclusion:

DFRAC’s fact check confirms that various claims come from false information.

  1. The blast did not happen near the mosque, but in a house located in the fields, far from the crowd.
  2. The owner of the house is Satish, not Shafique, and he rented it out to Rajkumar. Rajkumar, who runs the chemical factory, died along with four others in the blast.
