Recently, Congress’s former president Rahul Gandhi lost his membership in the Lok Sabha due to a defamation case. The US and Germany also commented on his revocation. In this regard, a news article is going viral on social media and the mainstream media, claiming that Rahul Gandhi thanked foreign leaders for raising questions about his disqualification.

Source: Youtube

ABP News, in their program “8 PM’s Big News,” claimed that “leaders of many countries raised questions about Rahul Gandhi’s incompetence, and he thanked them on Twitter.”

Fact Check:

DFRAC team checked this claim and found that there was no such tweet on Rahul Gandhi’s official Twitter account.

We did a Google search and found a report from Times of India in which Congress senior leader Digvijay Singh thanked the German Foreign Ministry and DW editor Richard Walker in his tweet.

source : twitter

The Tweet Writes, “Thank you Germany’s Ministry of External Affairs and Richard Walker for paying attention to how democracy in India is being compromised through the persecution of Rahul Gandhi.

Conclusion:

Therefore, DFRAC’s fact check confirms that ABP News’s claim of Rahul Gandhi thanking foreign leaders for raising questions about his disqualification is fake news.
