Fact Check: Yogi Devnath shared an edited picture of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Dilshad Noor March 9, 2023
Yogi Devnath - DFRFAC

Yogi Devnath, a religious figure from Gujarat, who follows the same guru as UP CM Yogi Adityanath, is known for sharing social posts that emanate hate for other religious communities. This week, he shared a picture of popular Congress leader Rahul Gandhi while he was in the United Kingdom. This picture went viral within hours after Devnath shared it.

Source: Twitter

Devnath captioned the picture: “Rahul Rajiv Feroz Golf From Potato Expert, Wayanad, Kerala ” This caption is shown as written on the nameplate on the desk where Rahul is purportedly speaking.

Fact Check

To examine the truth behind the picture, the DFRAC team did a reverse search and found that the picture was used in an ABP News report. The report mentioned that the picture was clicked when Rahul was delivering a lecture at Cambridge University.

It was starkly clear that nothing was written on the name plate at the desk beside Rahul. Besides, the DFRAC also found a tweet made by Sam Pitroda, a senior figure of Indian Overseas Congress. The tweet has shared a picture that also doesn’t show anything written on the nameplate on the desk in the vicinity of Rahul.

Conclusion

A careful examination of the DFRAC finds that the picture made viral by Yogi Devinath is misleading and morphed. It is evidently clear that the caption ‘Rahul Rajiv Feroz…’ has been mischievously added with the picture.

Fact Check: No, Pakistan’s J-10C Did Not Shoot Down an Indian Rafale Over the LoC Dramatic silhouette of a Chinese-made J-10C fighter jet in mid-flight against a vivid sunset sky, with its afterburner trail illuminated in the twilight. The image was featured in a viral social media post by a Pakistani defense account, falsely claiming that the aircraft had successfully shot down an Indian Rafale jet during an aerial encounter over the Line of Control (LoC). The claim was later fact-checked and debunked by Indian authorities as misinformation.
