Did Rahul Gandhi call himself the Biggest Fool for electing Narendra Modi as PM ? – Read Fact Check

 A 21-second video is getting viral on social media of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi where social media users are claiming that he called himself a fool for electing Narendra Modi as PM.

In the video, Rahul Gandhi states, “No one is a bigger fool than me in this entire country. I elected Narendra Modi the prime minister of India and today even being a member of Lok Shaba he does not let me speak.”

Social media users are sharing the video while mocking Rahul Gandhi.

A user on Twitter writes, “By the way, he is saying right… in fact, we have never seen a bigger fool than him anywhere.” (English Translation)

Fact Check:

To investigate, the viral claim DFRAC team did a keyword search and found an old video of Rahul Gandhi with the same background.

While hearing the entire video we got to know that in the video Rahul Gandhi was quoting a member of the BJP without mentioning the name the portion of which can be heard below.

the team also found that the same video got viral with misleading claims in the year 2018. So the video is 4 years old and not of recent times.

Conclusion:

  1. Rahul Gandhi does not call himself a fool but was quoting a BJP member.
  2. The video getting viral is 4-year-older.
