A clip of a Bollywood Ranbir Kapoor actor posing with a boy for a selfie and then throwing away his phone is going viral on the internet with the hashtag #angryranbirkapoor.

Netizens are showing their agitation towards Ranbir Kapoor while sharing videos and asking him to behave nicely with the fans.

Many main stream like Economic Times etc, newspaper put this video in the headline.

Not only this many verified users on twitter too shared this video while critising Ranbir Kapoor for his actions.

Links of the tweets are provided here, here, here and here.

Fact Check:

As the video that went viral on social media was cropped and not the full version, so in order to search it DFRAC team did a keyword search which led us to the entire version of the video that was uploaded on the official handle of Oppo India on 29 January.

The longer version of the clip, along with its caption, suggests that it was a part of an advertisement campaign for a new product being launched by Oppo India.

More research into this led us to the Instagram page of the guy whose phone was thrown where he wittingly captioned the entire video saying, “Hi guys, it’s me. He didn’t throw my phone. He’s a sweetheart.”

Conclusion:

The video shared by Instagram users is misleading as it was an Ad Campaign for the new phone launch of OPPO. Hence, the claim made by many media houses and social media users is Misleading.
