Fact Check:

To fact-check the viral claim, the DFRAC team did a simple search on Google. We got a report from “Indian Express”. In this report, the name of the accused has been mentioned as Anish Raj. “A woman identified a man, after which they (Shambhu Dayal) caught hold of her, identified as Anish Raj (24), a resident of Mayapuri. When ASI Dayal was bringing him to the police station, Anish attacked ASI Dayal with a knife hidden in his shirt. ”

In this context, we received a tweet from Delhi Police. In this tweet, the Delhi Police clarified that the name of the accused is Anish Raj’s son Prahlad Raj. Delhi Police wrote in the tweet- “The name of the accused who killed ASI Shambhu Dayal is Anish Raj, son – Prahlad Raj. It’s a criminal. He attacked ASI with a knife while being caught on charges of mobile phone theft. The matter is not communal. False and misleading information is being given by some handles on social media. ”

Conclusion:

It is clear from the fact check of DFRAC that the name of the accused is not Mohammad Anish but Anish Raj’s son Prahlad Raj. At the same time, the Delhi Police has also made it clear that there is no communal angle to this case. Therefore, the claim of social media users is wrong.
