A picture of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is getting viral on social media. In this picture, It can be seen that Rahul Gandhi is having breakfast. During this time, a plate full of chicken and a glass full of alcohol is kept on his table. Social media users are making fun of Rahul Gandhi by sharing this picture.

By sharing this picture a social media user captions: “ Ascetic immersed in penance”

Fact Check:

To fact-check the viral picture, the DFRAC team did a reverse image search. We came across a tweet from writer and senior journalist Paranjoy Guha Thakurta. In this tweet, the viral picture of Rahul Gandhi can be seen. 

While sharing this picture, Paranjoy Guha caption: “ It was a sheer coincidence: traveling to Punjab this morning, I crossed the Bharat Jodo yatra. With some difficulty and a scuffle, I was able to meet Rahul Gandhi while he was eating at a dhaba a few km from Karnal. We discussed politics, economics, and India’s richest men.

In this picture, it can be seen that the plate of Rahul Gandhi in which the chicken is described has nuts and in the glass in which the wine is mentioned, tea is kept. You can check out both collage pictures below. 

Conclusion:

It is clear from the fact check of DFRAC that the viral picture of Rahul Gandhi is edited. No liquor and chicken were served to Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Therefore, the claim of social media users is wrong.
