In Haldwani, Uttarakhand, after the high court’s order, about 4000 families are in danger of destroying their homes. The most affected of these people are from the Muslim community. Meanwhile, many types of misleading and fake news are going viral on social media. Many social media users are calling the affected people of Haldwani Rohingya and Bangladeshi.

A user captioned: “ Islamic Jihadi is not ready to leave railway land despite SC order in Uttarakhand #Haldwani. More than 50,000 Bangladeshi Rohingyas have settled in an area of just 2.5 km, with no land registry, and no documents, these people are not only a threat to Uttarakhand but to the whole country.” ( English Translation)

Another user captioned: “ Court orders removal of Rohingya encroached upon railway land in Haldwani Army is also ready, but puppet cm @pushkardhami are not thinking of taking action.

Maybe Moi Narendra Modi should gift flats to these Rohingyas like Delhi, that’s why they have stayed?

Hindu is watching.” ( English Translation)

Fact Check:

DFRAC conducted a simple search on Google to analyze the affected families described as Rohingyas and Bangladeshis in Haldwani. We found a report from Dainik Jagran. “The police have received inputs that some Rohingya Muslims have infiltrated the district. They are looking for their land in areas with special religions. However, the police do not have any concrete evidence of their arrival yet. But the police do not want to take the case related to Rohingya Muslims lightly. Police officials have set up an investigation into Rohingya Muslims. All COs of the districts have been asked to get the verification of people belonging to a particular community in their respective areas. If the input related to Rohingyas is found correct, the police will take the next step against them. ”

At the same time, there are many reports about the infiltration of Rohingya-Bangladeshis, but the situation is not clear about their exact number, location, and area. At the same time, we found a report in the “Navbharat Times” to search for Rohingya refugees.  According to this report- “In the year 2017, the central government had said that about 40 thousand illegal Rohingya infiltrators are living in the country. These infiltrators live in different states or cities of the country. Rohingyas live in Jammu and Kashmir, Hyderabad, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, and Rajasthan. ”

At the same time, we also got a report from “Aaj Tak“. According to the Union Home Ministry report, 40 thousand of Rohingyas are living illegally in India. Most Rohingya Muslims currently live in Jammu and Kashmir, Hyderabad, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, and Rajasthan. ”

Conclusion:

It is clear from the fact check of DFRAC that there is no concrete evidence of Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators staying in Haldwani. Police investigation in this regard is underway. Apart from this, the claim of infiltration of 50 thousand Rohingya refugees in Haldwani is also wrong.
