Edited video of  Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is getting viral? Read- Fact check

A video is getting viral on social media sites. It can be seen in the video that Saudi Prince is giving a speech to the team players of the World cup. Social media users are claiming that Saudi Prince is threatening the team players ahead of the world cup.

By sharing this picture a user named DR TUSHARKANTI NAYAK captioned: “ @FIFAWorldCup  @FIFAcom What nonsense is this? Such nations should be banned from participating in the World Cup since players are given such kinds of threats. Even such jokes are unacceptable. @arabnews @ALArabiya_Eng @AJEnglish”

Fact Check:

To know the reality of the viral video the team of DFRAC did a reverse image search of the video keyframes and found that the national news covered this report and uploaded it on October 24, 2022, with the headline: “ Saudi Crown Prince tells the national team to ‘enjoy the World cup, without any pressure”

The report further stated- Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has met Saudi national team players preparing to take part in the World Cup in Qatar next month.

Prince Mohammed added that the Saudi team find themselves in a difficult group during the World Cup qualifying round, and advised them to play without any pressure.

At the same time, we found another report from mos.gov which was uploaded on 10/23/2022. The headline stated: “HRH Crown Prince Receives Saudi national football team players and technical and administrative staff.”

Meanwhile, the team found a YouTube channel of Al Arabiya English and posted the video on 24  October 2022 with the post heading: “ ‘Enjoy the games!’- Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince encourages national team players ahead of World Cup.”

Conclusion:

It is clear from the fact check of DFRAC that the viral video is edited.  Prince Mohammed is not threatening the team players but encourages them to enjoy the game. Therefore, the claim made by social media users is edited and Misleading.
