Recently, NDTV was officially acquired by the Adani group after the transfer of shares constituting 99.5 percent of its equity capital to Adani group-owned Vishvapradhan Commercial (VCPL).
Taking a dig at anchor Ravish Kumar, Journalist Sushant Sinha shared a Tweet in which he claimed that his resignation has been taken from him. The tweet of Sinha can be nearly translated into English as, “Messiah Kumar, who spent all his energy in destroying Narendra Modi’s career, his own career is over. Heard that the resignation has been taken from him. Sad times that started in 2014 for Messiah Kumar, his champs, and his spoon supporters show no signs of ending. God give them strength.”
Soon, his tweet went viral with more than 6.5K retweets and 34K likes.
Fact Check
On keyword search, the DFRAC team found a video from Ravish Kumar Official Youtube channel.
In the above video, Ravish Kumar himself can be heard saying, “I have resigned from NDTV.”
Furthermore, many media houses have covered this news. A report in The Hindu with the headline, “Senior journalist and Ramon Magsaysay awardee Ravish Kumar resigns from NDTV” mentions that,” NDTV Group president Suparna Singh, in an email to her colleagues, reportedly said: Ravish has resigned from NDTV and the company has agreed to his request for his resignation to be effective immediately.”
Conclusion
Ravish Kumar resigned from NDTV soon after the channel was acquired by the Adani Group-owned Vishvapradhan Commercial with the transferred shares constituting 99.5% of its equity capital. Therefore, the claim of Sushant Sinha that ‘his resignation has been taken’ is misleading as ‘he himself has resigned.’
