Many pictures of this gift bag are becoming viral on social media. In one of the pictures, it can be seen that the gift bag has a photo of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the slogan is written – “FIFA World Cup Qatar-2022 Sabka Saath- Sabka Vikas”

On social media, verified user Wasim R. Khan shared this photo and wrote – “My pride  My @PMOIndia

Fact Check:

The DFRAC team did a reverse search of the picture to fact-check the viral claim. We found a report from arabi21.com. This report has been posted on 20 November 2022. The report has been given headlines- “Qatar surprises fans of the opening ceremony by giving them special gifts” ( English Translation).

According to this report, The organizers of the Fifa World Cup 2022 in Qatar were keen to surprise the fans present at the opening match of the tournament, with special gifts in the stands of Al Bayt Stadium in Doha.

The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, in coordination with the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA), took this step-in order to put the fans in the best conditions, and to make them aware of the importance it attaches to their attendance, in order to make this global event a success.

Some social media activists circulated photos and videos of the symbolic gifts allocated by the Supreme Committee to the fans, which were represented in a bag full of gifts and prizes expressing theWorld Cup in Qatar, Qatari heritage, and Arab culture in general, where a bag was allocated to each fan who finds it in the place designated for him to sit in.The Qatari team received its first loss in the tournament against its Ecuadorian counterpart with two clean goals, in the match that brought them together at Al Bayt Stadium after the opening ceremony.

At the same time, we also found a tweet by senior journalist Mohamed Aljazar in this context. He captioned in this tweet- a “Misk and Amber” gift to the audience before the start of the World Cup.

arabi21.com and journalist Mohamed Aljazar posted the viral picture. But there is no photo of PM Modi anywhere in it. You can see it in the collage below.

At the same time, a viewer has made a video of this gift bag and shown what things have been given to the audience in the gift.

Conclusion:

It is clear from the fact check of DFRAC that the picture shared by Wasim R. Khan is fake. It has been edited and put a picture of PM Modi because the gift bag given by Qatar to the audience does not have a picture of any leader.
