Uncategorized

The situation in Ukraine is dire after the Russian attack. Thousands of students from India are stranded in Ukraine. The Government of India has started Operation Ganga to evacuate these students. Along with this, four central ministers are also present in neighboring countries for the safe return of students.

Meanwhile, national security analyst Nitin A. Gokhale made a big claim that before launching an all-out attack on Ukraine, Russia has agreed to stop the war for 6 hours to evacuate Indian students.

Quoting his tweet, many media channels including ABP News carried this news forward.

Fact Check:

On examining the above claim, we found that Russia did not stop the war to evacuate Indian students from Ukraine. On Thursday, the Ministry of External Affairs denied this news.

Giving information about this in her tweet, senior journalist Suhasini Haider of The Hindu wrote that the MEA denied the reports that Russia “stopped the war for 6 hours” to facilitate the Indians escaping from Kharkiv.

Apart from this, Hindustan Times also clarified in its news that the Ministry of External Affairs has denied the news from Kharkiv that Russia halted the war for 6 hours to allow the Indians to leave.

Conclusion:

So the claim of Russia having stopped the war to evacuate Indian students from Ukraine is fake.
