FactCheck: Did Narendra Modi was waving at the empty ground in Unnao?

Assembly elections are at peak in five states of the country including UP. Meanwhile, a video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is becoming massively viral. In this video, PM Modi can be seen waving hands and greeting. Sharing this video on the internet, some people are claiming that PM Modi was waving hands in an empty field. Sharing the video, Rupa Gulab said, “But where are the people? Who is he waving to?”

Similarly, many other users shared this video on  Twitter and Facebook.

On our Fact check analysis, we found that NDTV had uploaded the same video on its official Twitter account. The caption of the post is, “#ElectionsWithNDTV | Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives for his rally in Unnao.”

 

In this video, we can see the people standing behind barricades and on the terrace of houses at a distance from PM Modi.  And, Modi Ji was waving hands to them.

 

Further, we found another tweet of ANI regarding the same video. In the tweet, ANI mentioned, “#WATCH | People throng terraces and buildings near the helipad to welcome PM Narendra Modi in Unnao.

Conclusion

Hence, from our fact check analysis, it is clear that PM Modi was not waving his hand at the empty grounds. But, some people are sharing an edited version of the video to mislead people.
